Amidst her grandmother's depression and her mother's suicide, Charlotte finds solace in painting, creating over 1,000 images. Her artwork, titled "Is my life real, or is it theater?", reflects her past in Berlin. As she finds herself through art, she's deported to Germany and Auschwitz in 1943.
