Clowns background

Clowns

Tommy Tickle, a down-on-his-luck British performer, reluctantly becomes a children's party clown to make ends meet, but his 40-cigarette-a-day habit frequently gets in the way, causing him to scare his young audience with his rough demeanor.

Tommy Tickle, a struggling children's entertainer, finds himself stuck in a job he despises, using his 40-a-day voice to try and connect with modern kids who are increasingly hard to please. Despite his rough exterior, he has a soft spot for children and longs for the days when he could make them laugh without relying on Robert Mugabe jokes. Meanwhile, Potty the Pirate, a children's party favorite, finds himself struggling to separate his on-stage persona from his real life, often making pirate noises at inopportune moments. Mr. Pumpkin, a children's party host with a heart of gold, must balance his love for his job with his responsibilities as a caregiver for his sick mother. As the story unfolds, the film explores the complex relationships between children and the men who try to entertain them, delving into the motivations behind why someone would choose to become a clown in the first place.
