Come Back, Little Sheba

For two decades, Doc and Lola Delaney struggled to confront their "shotgun" marriage. After Lola lost the baby and devoted herself to their dog Sheba, who went missing months before the film begins, Doc held onto resentment, blaming Lola for his missed opportunity to become a "real" doctor. He turned to alcohol, which he eventually replaced with AA. When college student Marie moved into their home, Doc felt a spark of passion for the first time in 20 years. Meanwhile, Marie had two young suitors vying for her attention, while Lola, unaware of Doc's feelings, became invested in Marie's future as if she were her own daughter.
