Margaret Holt, determined to take down the Schemer Marko gang, has spent the last four years assisting her brother, assistant D.A. Victor Holt. When Marko discovers her evidence, Margaret kills him, and then flees to a local shelter for women. However, her secret is soon discovered by a gossip columnist and a mystery writer, who team up to clear her name and capture the Marko gang, who have kidnapped Victor and are now pursuing Margaret.
