The Doctor, still adjusting to his new form, arrives on the planet Vulcan with his companions Ben and Polly. They soon find themselves embroiled in a mystery involving the death of an Earth examiner, a human colony, and a rebellion. However, their troubles are amplified by the appearance of the Daleks, who are wreaking havoc on the planet and threatening to destroy the colony. It's up to the Doctor to stop them and save the day.
