Dr. Dilara Bessano, a Turkish Cypriot born and raised in Cyprus, studied in Italy and married a writer and researcher, Antonio Bessano. After her husband's suicide on his birthday, Dilara and her 4-year-old daughter Asia returned to Cyprus. Dilara worked as an instructor at Near East University's Faculty of Communication while completing a documentary about "Mass Graves in Cyprus" that she had been working on with her husband.
