Falasha background

Falasha

Epic tale of Ethiopian Jewry's courageous fight against oppression, culminating in the clandestine airlift of thousands of Ethiopian Jews from Sudan to Israel.

Ethiopian Jews, known as Falasha or "strangers," lived in isolation for centuries, practicing an ancient form of Judaism that traces its origins back to Solomon and Sheba. Despite being faithful to their faith, they were persecuted and forced to retreat after the conversion of the Ethiopian kingdom of Aksum to Christianity in the 4th century ad.
