In 1980s South Africa, a young boy named Lukas aspires to become a quarter mile racing champion. His mother cautions him to stay away from the racers, but Lukas mishears and thinks she means "Race-ist". As Lukas grows into a young man in modern South Africa, he pursues his dream with the assistance of two eccentric biochemists, ultimately aiming to become the quarter mile king of Brakpan.
