For Those We Love background

For Those We Love

During World War II, Japanese fighter pilots engage in a perilous and strategic tactic, deliberately crashing their planes into enemy vessels to wreak havoc and destruction.

The movie tells the story of young Japanese pilots who are trained to become suicide pilots to attack Allied shopping centers in the Pacific, amidst the war's turn against Japan. In a southern Japanese town, a tavern owner provides comfort to the pilots, who are about to embark on their first and final missions, despite the military's disapproval. The film explores the irony of these pilots sacrificing their lives for Japan without having truly experienced Japanese culture.
