Two cousins, Carole and Jerome, embark on a tour of Odessa, Ukraine, behind the Iron Curtain in 1979. While posing as a newly engaged couple, they spend the day exploring monuments and museums. However, their evening takes a dramatic turn as they secretly meet with refuseniks, Jews facing persecution for attempting to flee the Soviet Union.
