In 1987, Sudan's Muslim government condemned to death all Christian males in the south, prompting 27,000 boys to flee to Ethiopia on foot. After being forced to flee to Kenya in 1991, only 12,000 survived and settled in a UN camp in Kakuma. The film chronicles their 1,000-mile journey and life in the camp, as well as the struggles of three young men who repatriate to the US.
