Goodbye Broadway background

Goodbye Broadway

A colorful troupe of performers, featuring two veteran stars from vaudeville and Broadway, descends upon Hamilton, Connecticut, prepared to mesmerize the crowd with a captivating fusion of dance, music, and exotic animal acts.

Pat and Molly Malloy, former vaudeville and Broadway stars, arrive in Hamilton, Connecticut with a troupe of performers, a trained dog, and an educated seal. They buy the rundown Swanzey Hotel to fire its clerk, Harry Clark, who had insulted Pat. However, local businessman J.A. Higgins tries to buy the hotel, knowing the state plans to turn it into a museum. When Pat refuses, Higgins attracts a group of jobless vaudevillians, who turn the hotel into a three-ring circus. The only paying customer, Iradius P. Oglethorpe, claims the old chairs in the cellar are priceless antiques, but they're actually worthless. The Malloys' last hope is a benefit show, staged by Higgins' nephew Chuck, who is infatuated with Jeanne Carlyle from the troupe.
