In 1933, the Great Plains are devastated by a severe drought and massive dust storms, the Dust Bowl, which puts the livelihoods of farmers and communities at risk.

In 1933, Colby, Kansas, is struggling to recover from the Great Depression, but the Great Plains face an even more formidable foe: the harsh environment. Amidst the dust storms, two men, Ray Garvey and John Kriss, recognize the fertile land in western Kansas and eastern Colorado as a chance to cultivate wheat, defying the odds and bringing hope to a world in need.
