When twin Texas cities Bradfield and Hempstead host simultaneous expositions to attract business, the competition between event coordinators heats up. Jo Allen, hired by Bradfield's Mr. J. D. Murdock, goes undercover as a schoolteacher to gather secrets from Hempstead's Jimmy Maxwell. As Jo learns of Jimmy's plans for a prizefight, she turns to her friend Caesar Rosero, a Broadway showman, to help Bradfield outdo Hempstead. Meanwhile, Jo and Jimmy fall in love, but their feelings are put to the test when Jo's true identity is revealed.
