Hawkwind: The Chronicle of the Black Sword background

Hawkwind: The Chronicle of the Black Sword

A legendary 1985 stage production of Michael Moorcock's "Elric" stories, "The Chronicle of the Black Sword", was brought to life at Hammersmith Odeon.

Formed in the late 1960s, Hawkwind achieved underground cult status, alongside Pink Floyd and The Soft Machine. The group has had notable members, including science fiction author Michael Moorcock, Lemmy (who later formed Motorhead),and Ginger Baker of Cream. Hawkwind's unique sound has continued to evolve, from early hits like "Silver Machine" and "Urban Guerilla" to modern-day shows at underground raves and rock festivals. Their ambitious album, The Chronicle of the Black Sword, is a great listen, but the concert video is essential to fully appreciate the band's visual spectacle, which was a crucial part of their live shows, similar to early Pink Floyd.
