A group of college students, led by a charismatic professor, pull off a series of elaborate prank calls to funeral homes, convincing the recipients they're speaking with the deceased. But when they target the funeral of a notorious serial killer, known as the Sea-Monster, their prank goes horribly wrong. After the Sea-Monster's mother dies following one of the calls, the students start to turn up dead, and a detective believes the Sea-Monster has returned from the grave to avenge his mother's death.
