A desperate man, fired from a rocket fuel plant, attempts to take his own life by setting off a bomb strapped to his body at the plant, taking the town with him. However, as he holds the plant manager's wife and son hostage on a fuel storage tank, the manager must convince the police to evacuate the town and plead with the man to spare their lives.
