In a small South American town, a widow mother raises her dwarf daughter Charlotte to be a normal and accomplished young woman, hiding any signs of her condition from her. She succeeds in creating a modern-day Rapunzel, as Charlotte captures the heart of Ludovico. However, their love is put to the test when the circus arrives in town, threatening to reveal Charlotte's true nature.
