A wealthy man, Vittorio De Sica, takes a vacation at a luxurious resort and is mistakenly identified as an aristocrat after using a friend's camera. He befriends a maid, Assia Noris, who falls in love with him for who he truly is, not his perceived social status. In the end, De Sica marries Noris, choosing authenticity over the superficial world of high society.
