In 1892 London, a man known only as Defendant 47 is put on trial, but he has no recollection of his identity. As he struggles to recall his past, he is haunted by fragmented memories of his recent whereabouts and glimpses of his life before. As he begins to regain his memories, he discovers he was a mathematician who ran a photography studio, with a peculiar fascination for children. His interactions with these young subjects ultimately lead him down a sinister path, culminating in a dark and ominous fate.
