U.K.-based Hussain Shah's daughter Mary dates a Caucasian man, Dave, despite her father's disapproval. After reluctantly giving her permission to marry, Mary is taken to Pakistan and Afghanistan, where she is forced to marry her cousin Sarmad Khan. Meanwhile, Mary's uncle Mansoor, who has relocated to Chicago for music lessons, falls in love with a Caucasian student named Janie. After the 9/11 attacks, Mansoor is arrested by the CIA, tortured, and forced to reveal his association with Al Qaeda and Usama Bin Laden. Mary escapes and is recaptured, becoming pregnant and giving birth to a girl.
