On the US-Mexico border, Hanna High School is plagued by daily struggles. Students from diverse backgrounds, including cocaine-addicted cheerleaders, patriotic ROTC students, gang members, and Mexican girls seeking a husband, navigate the challenges of adolescence. Despite their differences, they share common aspirations, such as swearing on the American flag, dreaming of white picket fences, and fancy cars. However, the harsh realities of their lives await them outside the school gates, like an incurable disease.
