Inspired by the 1960s soap opera Dark Shadows, Kingdom of the Vampire is a moody drama that reflects the childhood influences of director J.R. Bookwalter, shot on video in 1991.

In 1991, producer/director J.R. Bookwalter took his first leap into non-traditional filmmaking with KINGDOM OF THE VAMPIRE, a moody drama inspired by DARK SHADOWS. The film follows a young man and his overbearing vampire mother, who has a habit of slaughtering neighborhood children to satisfy her bloodlust.
