In a small Algerian village, Mounir Mekbek strives for recognition among his peers. His sister Rym, a narcoleptic, threatens to ruin his reputation. After getting drunk, Mounir fabricates a story about finding a suitor for Rym, which snowballs into a rich Australian suitor, leaving the village to prepare for a wedding without a groom.
