Joanna Maitland, a young woman, escapes her restrictive relatives in Boston to join her mother, Millie, in Palm Beach, where she's been forbidden to go. Robert Lattimer, a bank official, tracks her down and, while trying to persuade her to return, falls for Joanna. Meanwhile, Millie, a charity social secretary, embezzles funds, intending to repay them with an expected check. When the check is stopped, Millie confesses her wrongdoing to the authorities.
