Two historians from Russia embark on a journey to Ukraine to participate in the recreation of the Lvov-Sandomierz operation in July 1944. However, their trip takes an unexpected turn when they clash with Ukrainian nationalists and are suddenly transported back in time to the midst of a real war that occurred over 60 years ago. Against all odds, they narrowly escape death at the hands of the nationalists and find themselves caught in the crossfire between the Red Army and the Nazis.
