Ningiuksiak, a hunter from Cape Dorset, sets out on a hunt with his family, but his snowmobile breaks down on the way back. Without the means to fix it, he abandons his family and travels to Frobisher Bay to earn money. He finds work as a taxi driver, but his new lifestyle leads to unhappiness and a reliance on liquor. One night, his wife appears, having come to take him back home.
