On Paper Wings background

On Paper Wings

A catastrophic event propels a young girl towards a path of rehabilitation, leading to an extraordinary bond between two countries as optimism and mending overcome cultural divides.

In 1945, a Japanese balloon bomb took the lives of the only people killed on the continental U.S. due to enemy action during WWII. Four decades later, the tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes brought together Japanese and American civilians connected to this incident.
