Country postman Harold Petts, transferred to London, unwittingly foils a mail train robbery and is mistaken for a gang member by both robbers and police. Despite this, he impresses his post office colleagues with his skills, outperforming new machinery. Harold becomes a hero when he thwarts another robbery attempt, and as a reward, he's promoted back to his home village as Postmaster.
