Shaon, a scriptwriter, and her husband Antor, a indecisive individual, live in a joint family with his parents and siblings. Shaon's struggles with polycystic ovary syndrome and her friend Parijat's pregnancy lead her to consider adoption, but Parijat changes her mind. Shaon leaves her in-laws' home and seeks refuge with her parents. She and Antor eventually reunite and celebrate their anniversary by checking into a hotel, where Shaon expresses her desire for independence. They are arrested, but manage to escape after Antor's brother intervenes. Antor becomes disillusioned with the city and accepts a transfer to Bhilai, and Shaon agrees to accompany him, hoping for freedom and the possibility of motherhood.
