Project Fiftyone background

Project Fiftyone

A couple embarks on a perilous journey to Afghanistan, driven by a desire to make a profound impact and honor the memories of the 51 people who lost their lives in the Christchurch mosque attacks.

A young Muslim couple, Bariz and Saba, travel to Afghanistan to fund 51 micro-businesses in honor of the 51 Muslims martyred in Christchurch, New Zealand. With a limited budget of NZ$20,000, they record their journey, gaining intimate access to the lives of their recipients. For the characters in Afghanistan, small investments can bring significant change, while for Bariz and Saba, this humanitarian act has a profound impact on their own lives.
