An escaped convict, Hap Connors, seeks revenge against the man who framed him. He teams up with an old prison companion and becomes embroiled in a stage holdup. When the gang leader, Jim Blount, learns of Hap's escape, he offers a doubled reward for his capture - dead or alive. Hap finds love with Ruth Warren, but she's engaged to Blount. As Hap tries to persuade her to leave Blount, he's caught and jailed. With the help of his friend Frisco, Hap escapes and breaks up the wedding, kidnapping Ruth and taking her to a hideout. However, their plans are interrupted by a heartwarming scene where Hap must feed a basket of newborn kittens.
