A struggling bandleader makes a deal with a pawnshop clerk, who is also an aspiring songwriter, to allow the band's female singer to perform his songs at a local club in exchange for letting the band use their instruments at night. However, the clerk's girlfriend becomes suspicious that the singer has ulterior motives, suspecting she's after more than just his music.
