As a train hurtles towards a catastrophic collision with a cow, its engineer, a self-proclaimed "Captain" clad in Napoleon-inspired attire, becomes sidetracked by a woman's quest for a lost black dog. Meanwhile, the train's fireman, a diligent and courteous man, frantically searches for the Captain as the locomotive faces a dire shortage of fuel, with a treacherous mountain ahead and a ravaged track behind. With time running out, the fireman appeals to the passengers to contribute fuel, and a group of revelers in the next car agree to negotiate with the wealthy passengers in top hats. But amidst the chaos, the fate of the Captain, the lady, the dog, and the cow remains uncertain.
