Scatterbrain background

Scatterbrain

A talent scout schemes to boost his fame by manipulating his actress girlfriend into portraying a wholesome, down-to-earth country girl from the Ozark Mountains.

Eddie MacIntyre, a press agent and talent scout, plans to "discover" his girlfriend Esther Harrington, an actress, in the Ozark mountains and cast her in an upcoming production. He sends her to a hillbilly family, but Russell, the producer, mistakenly discovers Judy Hull, the family's daughter, instead. The mistake is not discovered until Judy and her father arrive in Hollywood, where she becomes Perfection Pictures' biggest problem. To void her contract, Russell asks Eddie to marry Judy, but Eddie instead hires a specialist to make Judy think she doesn't want to be a movie star. However, Judy wants to be a star, and her father has become a part of the Hollywood elite, playing polo with producers.
