Clay Webley, a hunted man, returns to Florida from the Civil War with his wounded friend Curtis Parker and brother Dan. As they journey through the Everglades to Cuba, Clay reveals he's murdered someone. The trio faces alligators, snakes, and danger, meeting a widow and her son allowed to stay by the Seminoles. Clay's bitten by a poisonous snake, and a romance blossoms between the widow and Dan while Clay plots his next moves.
