Shock Head Soul background

Shock Head Soul

The film "Shock Head Soul" is a unique adaptation of Daniel Paul Schreber's 1903 autobiography "From the Inside", combining documentary interviews, fictional scenes, and computer graphics to tell the pioneering account of mental illness.

Daniel Paul Schreber, a successful lawyer, began receiving messages from God in 1893 through a Writing Down Machine. He was confined to an asylum for 9 years, tortured by delusions of cosmic control, gender identity shifts, and "miracles" on his body.
