Henry Armstrong, a down-on-his-luck insurance salesman, finds a $1000 bill and, despite his initial temptation to keep it, decides to advertise it and return it to its owner. When no one claims the money, he becomes more aggressive and self-confident, making a series of successful sales and insisting on marrying his girlfriend Molly. However, things take a turn when his father sells the suit he was going to wear to the wedding, and Henry and his father must chase down the thief to reclaim the suit and the bill. In the end, the bill is revealed to be a fake, but Henry decides to retain the positive traits he developed during his brief period of good fortune.
