Roy Acuff, a country music minstrel, inherits a ranch and must run it for 90 days before it's decided who gets to keep it. Despite initial resistance from the ranch's rough cousins, Roy turns the place around by opening it to migrant workers, finding new water sources, and hosting community events. He even saves the life of a foreman and earns the respect of the community. However, his cousins try to frame him for wrongdoing, but Roy's good deeds and kindness ultimately prevail, and he decides to return the ranch to his cousins and continue his music career with his band.
