Timid book reviewer Whiskers is fired from his job and meets his girlfriend Lucy for dinner to discuss his new book. He decides to change his appearance and has his beard shaved off, only to discover that without it, he looks identical to notorious gang leader Brute Hanson, just released from prison. As he navigates this new identity, Whiskers finds himself caught up in a world of gangsters and rivalries, with his life in danger.
