In Java Island, a young Soekarno, determined to free Indonesia from colonial rule, was captured by the Nederlands(ch)-Indië Government in 1942. Imprisoned in Banceuy Prison, Bandung, Soekarno instead of giving in, found a way to fight back by delivering his powerful "Indonesi Acccuse!" defence oration at his trial in the Bandung Laandraad Courthouse. The film chronicles Soekarno's journey, from his childhood to his eventual proclamation of Indonesian independence alongside M. Hatta, the country's first president.
