The adventurous story follows ten-year-old Frederike and her friends Jonathan and Fabian as they attempt to build a teleporting machine to visit her uncle Mike, who was expelled from East Germany. However, the experiment goes awry, and the entire village population disappears, leaving the three kids as the only ones remaining. They soon realize that they have inadvertently beamed everyone to West Berlin. As they watch their families and friends desperately try to cross back over the Wall, they must use their quick thinking and action to reverse the experiment and prevent a disastrous outcome before the border guards open fire.
