In the early 1990s, a theatre project was launched at a Hollywood homeless shelter, allowing seventy young people from diverse racial, cultural, and sexual backgrounds to share their stories. Despite only ten completing the program, they went on to become performers, and their play, Friendly Fire, was showcased at the Los Angeles Festival before touring local high schools.
