In 1932, two aviators, Hans Bertram and Adolf Klausmann, were stranded in their seaplane in a remote bay in northwest Australia. Years later, Michael Atkinson replicated their journey, building a raft from the plane's floats and sailing along the coast to Pago Mission, the nearest civilization.
