A young boy and his German shepherd, Rin Tin Tin, are taken in by a cavalry lieutenant after being rescued from an Apache raid on a wagon train, and they go on to have many exciting adventures together, helping the cavalry maintain order in the face of Apache uprisings.

Rusty, a young boy, and his loyal German shepherd Rin Tin Tin are saved by the 101st Cavalry after an Apache attack on a wagon train. They are unofficially taken in by Lieutenant Ripley at Fort Apache.
