However, when a local man named Brick Loring unexpectedly takes Spike's opponent's place, the townsmen are thrilled. Despite being asked to throw the fight, Brick refuses, and a rival manager named Jock takes advantage of the situation by drugging Brick's coffee, leading to a shocking upset.
