The Mountain Road background

The Mountain Road

A US Army Major embarks on a perilous mission in 1944 to disrupt Japanese military operations in East China, hindering their progress and protecting Allied forces.

In 1944, a team of US Army demolition engineers, led by Major Baldwin, are left behind in eastern China to slow down the Japanese advance by destroying key infrastructure. They start by blowing up an American airfield and ammo dump, then receive orders to destroy a vital bridge over a mountain pass. After encountering a Nationalist Chinese Army unit, they agree to blow up the bridge and also destroy a nearby munitions dump, as well as transport a Chinese widow to the nearest major town. With a Chinese liaison officer and translator, Colonel Kwan, the team embarks on a perilous journey to achieve their objectives, facing not only the Japanese forces but also local Chinese threats.
