The film tells the story of a 40-year-old mother, Ye Hongmei, who lost her 8-year-old daughter in the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake. To cope with her grief, Ye embarks on a second IVF treatment to have another child, believing that giving birth to a girl would bring back her deceased daughter.
