Billy the Kid, after faking his own death at the hands of Marshal Pat Garrett, seeks a peaceful life under a new identity in a distant frontier town. However, he soon clashes with ruthless empire builder Col. Morgan and his henchman Jack Slade. Despite pleas for help from a preacher, a newspaper editor, and her romantic rival, Billy initially declines to intervene. It's only after the preacher is killed trying to stop Morgan's gang that Billy takes up his guns to stop the villains.
