In 1971, the Los Angeles performance art scene thrived, with Chris Burden, Barbara T Smith, and Paul McCarthy pushing boundaries. Bob Parks, a young artist from the UK, lived with his wife Myriam in Los Angeles, but their marriage failed and she left for Santa Fe. Heartbroken, Bob walked the streets in a string bikini for a year, as his art career unraveled. Rescued by a South Central gospel church, Bob spent six years singing and worshipping before returning to the UK. He stayed for 30 years, developing his art, singing, and exploring "the R&B feeling".
